Alliance Tournament XI - Day Two Wrap-Up (Winner's Bracket)
Match 33: Circle-of-Two vs. YOUR VOTES DON'T COUNT
Winner: YOUR VOTES DON'T COUNT (?)Score: 79-50
Length: 10:00
A close match with Circle-of-Two up early. Votes was down 20 points, but caught a Machariel that had to close range due to damps. Taking it down, it brings the match to even with four minutes remaining. The Mach loss is a huge blow to Circle which they can't recover from. VOTES goes on to win the match.
Match 34: Curatores Veritatis Alliance vs. THE R0NIN
Winner: THE R0NIN (?)Score: 56 - 41
Length: 10:00
CVA moves to the edge of the arena, ensuring they have the set-up and positioning they want, forcing R0NIN to move in. Seems like the right move, considering R0NIN are a heavy damp team. CVA is perhaps forcing them into a positioning mistake. CVA move ahead early with two Ishkur kills, then a Navy Brutix next, putting them up 24-0. R0NIN get it together and start coming back, first with an Oneiros kill, then a Sacrilege. With the death of a CVA Legion, THE R0NIN are in the driver's seat for the remainder of the match.
Match 35: Sleeper Social Club vs. Verge of Collapse
Winner: Verge of Collapse (?)Score: 100 - 0
Length: 4:31
Sleeper's pseudo-Minmatar rush team (with Caracals) is no match for the Verge Dominix team. Verge claims first blood. They claim all the blood. It's a complete shut-out of the Sleeper team. A mismatch of epic proportions. Verge are looking good as a favourite to be repeat winners this year.
Match 36: Rote Kapelle vs. The Fourth District
Winner: Rote Kapelle (?)Score: 100 - 3
Length: 8:40
Rote brings out their Bhaalgorn flagship. Fourth takes the first loss of the match, one of their Thoraxes. Rote meanwhile is burning to the edge of the arena, forcing Fourth to come to them. Which they do. Fourth loses a Vindicator, and the match is pretty much over, leaving Rote to mop up the field. Rote Kapelle is looking particularly strong this year, but then they've not faced strong competition yet either. Ends up not being a complete shutout, as Fourth manages to kill a Talwar at around the 5:00 mark of the match.
Match 37: Late Night Alliance vs. Clockwork Pineapple
Winner: Late Night Alliance (?)Score: 92 - 27
Length: 10:00
LNA bring their flagship onto the field, a Bhaalgorn. First kill of the match, one of Clockwork's Armageddons. This turns out to be the tide turner, as Clockwork no longer has the DPS to touch LNA's two Vindicators, their flagship, their Prophecy or Oneiros. Clockwork falls to faction warfare. LNA is looking quite good this tournament under the leadership of Bahamut420, and they've faced some reasonably tough competition.
Match 38: RAZOR Alliance vs. Test Alliance Please Ignore
Winner: Test Alliance Please Ignore (?)Score: 28 - 21
Length: 10:00
The battle of Fountain in the tournament arena. RAZOR of CFC and Test of, well, Test Alliance. First blood taken by Test with an Enyo kill. Razor concentrates on Test's Kronos', but they are easily holding tank. Razor drops a Kitsune. Test then takes out Razor's Guardian support, leaving them in a terrible situation. A low scoring match that goes to time.
Match 39: Transmission Lost vs. Nulli Secunda
Winner: Transmission Lost (?)Score: 79 - 8
Length: 10:00
The wormhole teams are bringing it this Alliance Tournament. Another solid win for Transmission Lost. Both teams bring triple Navy Scorpion set-ups, but Transmission's turns out the be the tankier team. Nulli loses their Basilisk, which puts the match into Transmission's hands. Nulli then starts losing its Navy Scorpions throughout the rest of the match. No contest, an easy win for Transmission.
Match 40: Exiled Ones vs. Exodus
Winner: Exodus (?)Score: 100 - 0
Length: 5:18
Exiled starts match with a disconnected Vindicator. Exodus quickly primaries the remaining Exiled Vindicator. It is an easy victory for Exodus at that point. Exiled could't recover from a twenty point deficit starting the match.
Match 41: Shadow Cartel vs. DarkSide
Winner: DarkSide (?)Score: 66 - 49
Length: 10:00
A fantastic match with a lot of hilarious microjumpdrive use. Shadow Cartel loses an Oneiros early, putting them on their backfoot at the 90 second mark. Darkside then loses its Oneiros two and a half minutes later. The match could still go either way. Darkside then takes down a Cartel Dominix, but Cartel match that with a Darkside Domi too. Cartel is very briefly in the lead, until they lose their Loki. The match comes down to the final seconds with Cartel hoping, trying for a Domi kill that did not happen.
Match 42: Darkness of Despair vs. M.I.F.
Winner: Darkness of Despair (?)Score: 100 - 9
Length: 6:38
M.I.F. comes in with a team perhaps more appropriate to the last two Alliance Tournaments. Darkness sits back, plinking off frigates and destroyers with sentry drones. When M.I.F. finally decides to close the distance they immediately lose a Sleipnir to Darkness' triple Dominix set-up. M.I.F. gets rolled throughout the rest of the match.
Match 43: Ministry of Inappropriate Footwork vs. The G0dfathers
Winner: Ministry of Inappropriate Footwork (?)Score: 27 - 11
Length: 10:00
This wins the prize for most boring match of the afternoon bracket. G0dfathers bring stealth bombers, of which one actually has a bomb launcher. He proceeds to bomb himself. Footwork kills off the remaining stealth bombers, then runs away the rest of the match, apparently hoping to win on meager points. Which they do, but it makes for a terrible match to watch.
Match 44: HYDRA RELOADED vs. End of Life
Winner: HYDRA RELOADED (?)Score: 100 - 0
Length: 5:19
Hydra with another Dominix team versus Life's Vexor Navy Issue set-up. I can't wait until next week when teams start banning out Dominix set-ups. I am so over Dominix teams. Easy win for Hydra.
Match 45: No Holes Barred vs. RvB
Winner: RvB (?)Score: 100 - 26
Length: 6:03
RvB brings a triple Gnosis set-up? Barred with a triple Brutix Navy Issue team. Damage being applied fast and furious. Barred loses Brutix is first 45 seconds, then loses another in next 45 seconds. RvB then trades a Gnosis for a Basilisk, then trades another Gnosis for Barred's last Brutix. RvB cleans up the rest of the field. RvB is looking very strong. Last year was obviously not a fluke. I will have to stop being an RvB doubter.
Match 46: W-Space vs. The Initiative
Winner: The Initiative (?)Score: 43 - 35
Length: 10:00
W-Space with a triple Navy Scorpion set-up. Initiative with a double Armageddon and Damnation team. Initiative loses an Armageddon, which puts W-Space in the lead, even though they are down three frigates. Initiative is is hitting W-Space's Tengu hard, and they finally destroy it after two full minutes of applying DPS. W-Space then focuses on the remaining Initiative Armageddon that mistakenly got out of rep range. Initiative lays all hope on dropping a Navy Scorpion and have two and a half minutes to do it ... which they do, and Initiative takes the lead.
Match 47: Confederation of Pizza vs. Agony Empire
Winner: Agony Empire (?)Score: 100 - 21
Length: 8:01
Agony bring a Gallente brawl team versus Pizza with a traditional Minmatar rush set-up. A race ensues, Sleipnir against Vindicator. The Sleipnir loses and Agony jumps out ahead quickly. A second Sleipnir dies and Agony takes total control of the match.
Match 48: Pandemic Legion vs. Drunk 'n' Disorderly
Winner: Pandemic Legion (?)Score: 70 - 0
Length: 10:00
A Pandemic Legion Dominix tinker set-up, versus Drunk's more traditional Dominix team. PL starts by plinking all of the frigates and destroyers aff the field. With 16 points, PL decides to move off, out of range, daring Drunk to make a move. Drunk moves in and starts losing their larger hulls. Knowing they are going to lose, Drunk starts begging for some self-destructs in local.
