[Poetic] The War in Fountain - Moving Day
The War in Fountain - Moving Day
The jump bridge between J5A-IX and 4-EP12 has been installed. Convoys and cynos have been running all day. It's the big moving day that defines a new stage in the war effort. As big a moving day as back in early June when the CFC moved to B-D, though this time not nearly as far to travel. B-D ? J5A ? Jump Bridge to 4-EP ? 4-EP Station. That's it.
Whereas, up until today, Test Alliance could focus their defense on a handful of systems to slow CFC progress, that luxury no longer exists for them. Staging from within Fountain, the entire region is opened up. It is far easier for the CFC to attack anywhere, at any time.
Fountain has effectively fallen. Pandemic Legion has deserted the effort. N3 has moved back east. It is just Test Alliance now, and the fight seems to have been drained out of them. There's some token resistance, but it's been ineffectual. A few snowflake fleets (kitchen sink fleets), that were dealt with quickly by CFC forces guarding the convoy route.
Does Test Alliance take a "no fun allowed" approach, force the CFC to go through the headache of taking sovereignty one system at a time. Or do they surrender it all to the CFC? As I said previously, I don't think there's any particular desire among CFC leadership to pound Test Alliance into the pavement. Montolio wanted his war with the CFC, and the CFC eventually found a reason to give it to him.
The CFC wants moons. That's pretty much it. If Test were to make that easy, I'd imagine the CFC would call a truce, allow them the territory they currently hold in Delve. Heck, they might even assist in returning Delve moons back to Test control. I can imagine kicking Confederation of Pizza in the pants as something the CFC would relish.
And if Test returned to the CFC by the end of the year ? either as a full member or just an ally ? that wouldn't surprise me either. The CFC doesn't hate Test. Quite a few of us feel terrible that they've fallen on such hard times. It was just business, after all. They wanted to prove a thing or two. They had some moons we wanted. We had to take them. No hard feelings, really.
