First of all, if you're selling Transporter and/or Negotiator tags, sell them out of Jan, not Jita. If someone has a -5.0 or lower secstatus, they can't very well buy them out of Jita, because they can't undock with them without getting blown to hell.

(I can't get out of Jita in a rookie ship. I'm guaranteed to be insta-targeted and blown up. I undock, and just start spamming the warp hotkey. The rookie ship will get toasted, but the capsule will get away.)

(And yes, some people will put in the extra effort to buy the tags out of Jita on alts and such. Normally I'd do that too, but being in nullsec, my alts are all over the place. So moving two characters across New Eden is effort. Sell the transporter and negotiator tags out of a lowsec CONCORD office like Jan, and you'll likely sell more of them.)

So I bought my way into the good graces of all players for the low, low price of 793 million ISK (tags plus the fixed fees.) A bit more expensive than I think it should be, but still worth it. (If you buy directly out of Jita, you're looking at around 425 million ISK, including the fixed fees.) My main now moves into highsec from time to time to conduct business. Over the last few weeks, I'd won three different Somer Blink promos (Tengu, Navy Brutix, and Machariel), and decided it was time to convert those winnings into ISK. I figured, while I was in highsec, I might as well try out the new security tags and fix my secstatus.

If I were still playing faction warfare, I wouldn't be bothered with buying secstatus. All my characters worked in close proximity, so having an alt do all the shopping and such was no big deal. Working with a secstatus below -5.0 is no big deal if you're a pirate or a faction warfarer. Now that I'm in nullsec, I found that I was noticing my secstatus more often, and that it was becoming an inconvenience.

Once you've bought your way to a secstatus over -2.0, there's really no point going higher. You're already safe from players. And unless you're OCD, a negative value shouldn't bother you much.

The tags are cheapest when fixing the lowest of the secstatus (-10 to -5). Much more expensive when fixing the higher rungs (-5 to 0.)

Anyhow, expensive, but worth it if you plan on doing any traveling or work in highsec. If you have alts to do all your highsec business for you (and you don't mind that extra effort), then don't bother spending the money on security tags.
