It Could Not Have Happened To A Nicer Minmatar Alliance

Leviathan down. A 75.9B ISK loss. The loser? An Iron Oxide alt. Iron Oxide? A Minmatar militia alliance. Faction warfare. Who took down the titan? Pandemic Legion.

When I heard about the loss, I wished mightily that it was an Annah Kitheran alt. A bigger d-bag did not exist on the Minmatar side. Unfortunately, Annah Kitheran's corporation has not been a member of Iron Oxide for over a month. (Insert sad face here.) He was probably kicked out because of the aforementioned d-baggery.

The apparent loser is Loryanna. Which is a shame. I recall Loryanna being a decent fellow back when I was Minmatar. Other than Annah Kitheran, I'd rank Iron Oxide as a better bunch of people than Late Night Alliance, for instance.

The sad thing is that Lory probably bought the titan on proceeds earned last summer, during the faction warfare ISK free-for-all. Coming up with another 76B ISK to replace the titan? That might no longer be pocket change. Not everybody is mynnna, can afford to replace titans without it making a dent in the pocket book. (Not that mynnna has ever lost a titan, but he's rich enough to lose a few without raising an eyebrow.)

How did it happen? Not quite sure, but have been trying to piece together some via comments and rumours. Apparently a Pandemic Legion alt and spy in Iron Oxide acquired the password to the POS that was housing the titan. It was being used, as most lowsec titans are used, to bridge fleets to battle locations. After just such a bridging, the Iron Oxide fleet off and away some ten or so jumps distance, the spy cyno'd in his Legion buddies. I'd assume someone bumped the titan from its perch and then quick order was made of it. Hell, Pandemic Legion even brought their own titan.

(Edit: full story at TMDC. It's even better than what I thought the story was. The spy actually fleet warped the titan out of the POS while the owner was AFK.)

My question is, why would any titan owner give away the password to their parking POS? What possible reason could they have had for doing that? I know two directors in Fweddit have titans. I'm also quite confident that the only people who have the passwords to those two POSes are the titan owners themselves.

EVE is about hard lessons.
