The War in Fountain - Isn't That What Happened To BoB?

"This will probably be my last post on the war for awhile ... some significant flip of sovereignty is going to have to occur before there is anything interesting to tell."

That's what I wrote yesterday. Less than 24 hours later, I'm writing about the war again.

There were some good indications that N3 (the Nulli Secunda and NCDot coalition) was on the verge of leaving the western half of New Eden to its own devices, while they moved back east to deal with a resurgent Solar Fleet. The chances of that happening now seem quite remote.

You see, The Mittani woke up this morning and said aloud "Ermagerhd! My boys? How'm I gonna keep my boys busy this whole dang summer?" (Said in a thick southern drawl, because I believe I heard it said on an interview that our Italian space king with the pokey hair is originally from Alabama.) Knowing if N3 left Fountain that the rest of the war would be a two week cakewalk, and that there was still nearly three months of summer remaining, he sprang into action. He rushed to his closet. Digging through his collection of old Pearl Jam t-shirts and tweed sports jackets, he found exactly what he was looking for. A minute later, he stepped from the closet, hands on hips, in the distinctive blue and grey tights and yellow cape of The Spymaster.

Telling Ubu, his trusty Malamute, to sit, he sat down in front of his computer terminal and got to business. Recalling all the lessons of BoB, he contacted one of the Nulli Secunda directors. Using Powers of Persuasion, he convinced the director that he was being ill-treated. Three minutes later, 400B ISK was stolen from the coffers of S2N Citizens (Nulli Secunda's renter alliance), and all their sovereignty was dropped, some 210+ systems.

Satisfied, The Spymaster leaned back and smiled, "My boys will still have good fights this summer."

Okay. That's probably not what happened at all. But I'd still bet a few quarters that The Mittani does have a Spymaster superhero outfit. A little bit of evening roleplay with the wife.

What happened today was totally shades of what happened to BoB. A pissed off director contacts Goonswarm wanting the ABCs of alliance destruction from the inside, hell bent on some mayhem and revenge. Not too long later, an alliance is disbanded, all their sovereignty is lost, and lots of ISK stolen. Not too mention, tonnes and tonnes of renter corps locked out of their outposts, unable to get at their stuff.
UPDATE FOR THE US TZ CREW: We're dealing with the aftermath of a Nulli director going rogue and nuking the S2N Citizens alliance. There are a ton of accusations flying on Kugu and elsewhere that the director involved wasn't himself/was account shared, but the facts we know are that about 6 hours ago 211+ sov systems in the northeast went dark and NCdot/N3 pulled out of Fountain to try to staunch the bleeding. Xttz was approached by the S2N director in question for advice as to how best pull off this heist right before it happened and offered his best counsel; we're now just kind of rolling with this shit and seeing what we can do in Fountain while the drama unfolds. Expect ops all night as well as posted ops tomorrow.

It's then rumoured that Goonswarm supplied Solar Fleet with a large number of TCUs (more than 10? more than 100?), so that they could start securing the vacated systems. Unfortunately, this happened late in the Russian timezone and Solar was not able to capitalize on the confusion. N3 and Pandemic Legion mobilized and rushed back east (rumour that Pandemic was paid a nice sum to assist in the effort.) As of this moment, it looks like Nulli has regained all the outposts it lost, but we'll have to wait until tomorrow to see how many systems they regained and how many Solar Fleet were able to grab.

This will give Goonswarm a window in which to take systems in Fountain. Depending on how well N3 has secured their situation out east, it might not be long before a very angry and driven N3 coalition returns to Fountain. If they were considering leaving Fountain, that's likely not going to be the case now.

Just when you think things are settling into a rhythm, nutty stuff happens.
