Fweddit Yesterday
Barely one year ago, a group of like-minded Eve pilots decided to form Fweddit in order to provide a home for redditors interested in participating in Faction Warfare. At first the group was highly unorganized, and this showed within its first combat operations.
While Fweddit may not have been successful in the beginning, their aim was to make a relevant and influential corporation that would shape the Faction Warfare landscape. Upon Fweddit?s entry into the losing Amarr Militia, Fweddit was viewed as the cute, adorable puppy corporation that would throw dozens of ships at enemies to score a handful of kills. Over time, however, this once adorable puppy began to grow some teeth, and started molding relationships with some powerful friends. What was once a small group of uncoordinated pilots has now evolved into an alliance boasting over 1,000 pilots. What was once complete Amarrican massacres were turning into respectable fights with considerable losses on both sides of the battle lines. These pilots that once primarily coasted the warzones solo in destroyers are now consistently cruising the warzone in Panzerfleet packs. The poorest pilots now boast wallets of billions.
Fweddit & J4LP Today
Fast forwarding to today, Fweddit and its allies have completely dominated the battlefield -- especially in terms of combat. However, it is a bittersweet taste with our success in Faction Warfare. On one hand, we have systematically crushed (in resounding rates) the once fearsome opposition. Meanwhile, on the other hand, we have effectively killed our own warzone. We?re accused of blobbing when numbers are equal. When we roam in our glorious Panzers, the Minmatar literally log off. We?re accused of using links when our use of links was merely a reaction to the opposition?s links. In short, the Amarr warzone has characteristically changed for the worse. It was once a warzone, and is now simply Amarr occupied territory. The Minmatar do not fight.
Unfortunately, we do not feel as though this is one of the typical Faction Warfare cycles, and we honestly do not know how long the warzone?s climate will remain unchanged. It would take a powerful new entity to join the Minmatar militia to keep things even remotely interesting ? but we don?t suspect this happening any time soon. It takes two to tango in Faction warfare, and we seem to have annihilated our dancing partner. Already, in the beginning of June, our armor plates are collecting dust on our prized ships that once gloriously evaporated within a few moments of acquiring them.
The leaders of your alliance ultimately do not fear death ? our killboards and aspiring fleet commanders reflect this sentiment. Instead, we fear member boredom and disinterest. Believe it or not, since early March your leadership has been brainstorming ideas for creating content for all of you: from the 5 day old newb to the 10-year bittervet. All of you have a special place in our war machine, and we want to keep you in it. We?re tired of members leaving because there are no fights. You?ve done your part by training for these glorious ships and getting them combat ready. Meanwhile, it?s our job to supply a bountiful supply of targets for you. The Minmatar are not fighting, and it?s now our job to explore new avenues of destruction.
Fweddit & J4LP Tomorrow
As such, I am formally declaring forthcoming J4LP combat operations within the 0.0 region of Querious. The numbers have been crunched, the proper personnel have been contacted, and the geo-political pieces are fully aligned. If we were to ever ask for such an ideal scenario for 0.0 involvements, now would be the ideal time. While our stomping grounds have been resoundingly torpid, major patches of New Eden have been set ablaze with war. In recent months, varying Eve alliances and coalitions have experienced internal strife and unstable political tensions. Such activities are the catalysts to universal war.
Most relevant to us, the Raiden. alliance has formerly disbanded and left the entire region of Querious up for grabs. The other major powers of Eve are busy killing each other (and having fun), so we suspect (and are hoping) they would not majorly interfere. This does not mean, however, we will take the 0.0 space unopposed. We are suspecting resistance from a myriad of possible opponents. The blessing of our Faction Warfare involvement, though, has trained us to tweak our own war machine: We have the numbers, we have the capital muscle, we have the in-game and out of game logistics, and we have the mental fortitude to take this space..
This is not a decision your alliance leadership has made lightly. This has been widely debated for months. We understand that we are currently the big fish in the small pond of Faction Warfare, and we understand we will be moving into the vast ocean of 0.0. Are we likely to die? Yes. Are we likely to die a lot? Oh yes. But players from within and outside of J4LP have continually chattered of J4LP prospects of 0.0 involvements. This summer we do not want to simply read stories and watch videos of glorious 0.0 fights. This summer we want to have stories being written about us, and videos shot of us. The worst case scenario is we fail in 0.0, and just end up back in Egghelende and the warzone. Then, at least we can say we tried to do something else to entertain us.
This is an incredibly unique position for an Eve alliance like us. Unlike many other current 0.0 alliances, we will be making our own home. We will not be squatting in someone else?s space while we eventually watch our alliance fall apart because we did not earn what we have. We?re going to wage our own war, and make our own home. Yes, it will be a good chunk of work. But, there is nothing more rewarding than seeing your section of space on the map. It?s your home -- your own little section of Eve. Most importantly, owning such space will allow us to have virtually an unlimited number of targets. When we are not fighting in our home, we will be close to the largest battle zones. Summer means war, and we want to be in these wars. Oh yeah, and do I even need to mention the glorious amount of ISK you can make without having to orbit beacons?
One thing we would like to emphasize, though, is that this will only work if we have widespread participation. We need all of you. We need our fearless newbros in their beloved frigates. We need our veterans in their majestic battleships. We need our scouts? ears to hear more carefully and eyes to see further. We need our industrial and logistical muscle to feed our hungry war machine. We need our aspiring fleet commanders to step up and guide the firepower of thousands of lasers. We need all of you.
In the upcoming days, staging systems, logistics, and updated fleet doctrines will be posted. Please ensure you have the right ships ready and in the right systems. Do not miss out on this monumental campaign. Moreover, please have jabber installed and open watching for announcements.
In closing, let me be clear: the Amarr warzone will always be our home and we will continue to fight the Minmatar horde. We have simply outgrown our own warzone. Faction Wafare will always remain a part of who we are, but it does not have to be the entire picture. We aim to be a PvP alliance within Faction Warfare. Currently, though, we just seem to be doing Faction Warfare without the PvP. We believe our unique power within Faction Warfare is that even a small detachment of our alliance could realistically handle the warzone. Moreover, our Amarr allies are more than up to task to maintain a warzone. If the Minmatar raise armies large enough to consistently rival and fight J4LP?s beloved fleets, then we of course shall return to crush them. Ultimately, we will go wherever the fights are -- and currently there are no fights.
Get your shit ready, we?re going to war.
