My first Freedom Squad op was tonight. And Dabigredboat was fleet commanding the shebang. So it was a double-your-pleasure sort of thing.
A dude named Xayder was kind enough to sell me a 170M ISK Zealot for only 225M ISK. I can't complain. I have no ships in 1DH-SX other than some Caracals. It's the Lazy Tax I was charged.
So we bridge over to NOL-M9 and start derping about, looking for things to shoot. We find a few stragglers here and there. The Zealot locks so bloody slowly that I don't get on any of the initial killmails. TEST and Pandemic Legion are in a system a jump or two away, but fighting in Drakes and Legions. Apparently we'd get our asses handed to us, so we keep doing what we're doing.
There are some carriers on the NOL-M9 station undock, and feeling a little desperate, Boat says he's going to start randomly inviting some of them to fleet. He sends us to Planet I to wait. One of the carriers does accept the invite. Diram of TEST Alliance. Boat starts trying to fleet warp the guy to our location. Diram keeps cancelling the warp. It actually takes him about 10 minutes to realize that he's in fleet with the CFC. Rather than leaving, he docks up and starts chatting us up.
Seeing as Diram isn't leaving fleet, Boat asks the frigate pilots to go make an insta-undock off station. This is where I get baffled. I don't know if it was just confusion or what, but it actually seemed like none of the frigate pilots knew how to make an insta-undock bookmark. It was finally done, but it took another five minutes of Boat getting frustrated with people. Maybe the CFC needs to bring in an EVE University instructor for a day to teach some basic shit to people over Mumble.
So Diram's docked at this point. We all warp to the new bookmark. It's about 500km off station. And we wait. Diram is still acting cocky in fleet chat. Then he does what we were praying he would do. He undocks his Nidhoggur. And he's instantly in warp to us. I don't know if he rage logged, or if he was unaware of the new aggression rules, but he disappeared from local as we were killing his ship. Maybe he thought if his carrier could survive a full minute, it would warp away. Those were the old aggression logout rules. Not so now. Once you're aggressed, you will stay logged in until you're deaggressed plus fifteen minutes.

After that we fought a Tribal Band fleet on the station and were kicking the hell out them, until our bubbles disappeared (timers?) and they all warped off before we could get more bubbles up. Then the call was made to head home, so we warped to the PR-8CA gate and that's when Pandemic Legion showed up with Legions and Lokis. For whatever annoying reason, I could not jump through the gate. I had no aggression timers at the time. I was at zero on the gate (the overview was telling me so.) Yet, the damned client kept telling me I needed to be within 2500 meters to activate. So I died in a bag of dicks. Damn, because I wanted to keep that Zealot for awhile. Lost the pod as well.
I guess I'm going to have to get used to flying with a clean clone. But I so hate slow skilling.
It was fun, though.
After my death, I didn't feel like getting contracted another ship, so clone jumped back to TVN-FM to start fleeting with Gents. I'm still in a trial stage with them, so I best start hanging with them until I earn my wings, rather than going off on escapades to Delve with Goonswarm.
