Of Ballots and Jump Bridges and Goon Services
There was a Nyx in nearby Flosewin being blown up while I was online. Part of Marlona Sky's 1000 Rifters thing. There was CCP's King of Lowsec happening all over. There was also a large CCP fleet that was heading from somewhere to somewhere else, and they all got killed (I would assume.) All told, it would look like people had a tonne of fun. Which, of course, would have been the point.
The CSM8 ballots still aren't out. Maybe this Monday? Hopefully. A present for EVE's tenth birthday?
Hilmar, during a fanfest keynote, said they'd be out the Monday following Fanfest. CCP Dolan confirmed sort of the same in the CSM8 devblog, stating they'd be out Monday April 27th. Sometimes I think, even though CCP Dolan lives in Iceland, he still has to do a conversion to EVE time. (Of course, there was no April 27th on a Monday this year. We can chalk that up to an amusing Dolanism.)
Instead of partaking in the birthday celebrations, I decided to spend two hours setting up all the authorizations required for Paxton Industries, Gentleman's Agreement, and Goon Services. Except, I never quite got to Goon Services. Maybe I'll get to that tomorrow. I did get the Jabber stuff set-up. Forums. And Mumble. Joining the CFC has been no less painful than that time I joined an Against ALL Authorities pet alliance. God I hate registering for websites and web services, and then all the API keys I created today. Sigh. And to know I have more of it to do tomorrow. Oh well, it will be over soon, and then I can just concentrate on getting into the swing of things and meeting people and flying in fleets and buying ships.
Which reminds me. I checked corporate contracts and there were none. Weird. I'm used to Fweddit having lots of ship contracts up, so that the lazy can buy fully fitted and stocked ships. So, I'm a little baffled how I'm going to get some of the doctrine ships.
The one cool site I did sign-up for was fleet-up.com. Now that is a fucking useful site. I wish we had used it in Fweddit. So convenient to see all the different doctrines, open up an entire ship fitting from within the in-game browser, and then save it to personal fittings. That is aces. (If any Fweddit are reading this ... check this site out and start using it. Seriously.)
After all that, I flew to TVN-FM. I did one of those things we laugh at people about. I loaded up an Imperial Navy Slicer with 860M ISK in implants and flew it through 26 jumps of highsec, lowsec and nullsec. It all survived, so all is good. I did stop in Obe, unload the cargo into a station and check out P3EN-E with an empty cargo bay. All was clear. Then flew to the jump bridge to make sure I knew how it worked. I didn't want to be figuring out how it worked with a full cargo, and maybe hostiles in the area. Once I knew the system was safe, returned to Obe, picked up all my implants and continued on through. Bing bang boom. Bridged to TVN-FM and was docked up in King's Landing. (Yeah, I'm not going to comment on that station name. Nerds.)
Let's get this show on the road, so I can stop writing about registering for websites.
