The CFC Rental Empire: The Only Outcome Is Success

The initial CFC Renter Beta is soon to be open for business. I believe the trial constellation will be in Vale of the Silent. Which seems to have Gentlemen's Agreement in smiles. Not because we want to blow up renters, but because we know it'll bring every Tom, Dick and Harry from Venal in an attempt to disrupt this new income stream. The Dicks from Venal mean more opportunities for fights. More fights mean more happy Gentlemen.

The doomsayers have been crawling out of the woodwork since The Mittani officially announced this new direction for the coalition. From people proclaiming it's just a giant scam, to people proclaiming that nobody will be lining up to fall under our very broad wings. To people proclaiming that CFC leadership can't control line members, which will result in constant attacks upon renters.

The thing the naysayers seem to forget is that when Goonswarm (and by extension the CFC) set their minds to a course of action, they are resolute. There may be instances of failure in Goonswarm's past, but since I've joined the game (early 2011) name me one instance where Goonswarm has said they will do something and then have failed? The naysayers said taking Branch and Tenal would fail. That conquering Tribute would be their demise. That the CFC coalition would be a trainwreck in the making. OTEC would devolve into recrimination and greed. That they didn't have the muscle or wherewithal to follow through on highsec ice interdictions or burning Jitas. The Fountain war would be too much for them.

Why on earth do these same naysayers believe that a CFC rental empire will be a failure? There's no evidence to back up those hopes and dreams of theirs.

Empires do not fall through wishful thinking alone. The naysayers sit on the sidelines, refusing to take part in the game. To see their hopes and dreams come to fruition, the naysayers will need to get off their asses and put in some work towards that reality they are so hopeful for. I give kudos to groups like Black Legion and Retirement Club. They are CFC naysayers, but they've not sat back doing nothing, they've constantly poked and prodded the beast. They've scored their victories.

There will be growing pains with the burgeoning rental empire. There'll be CFC members who step out of line. They'll be dealt with quickly. CFC line members have grown accustomed to a certain lifestyle. Renting ensures that lifestyle. People tend to want to protect what they feel they are entitled too. The rental program could fail, but the GSF track record the past few years suggests strongly that it will not.

There'll be alliances queuing up for a chance to rent CFC constellations. I've no doubt about that. There will be some initial trepidation. There is some history that Goonswarm has to overcome, for sure, but I think people will quickly realize that in this endeavour Goons are to be trusted.

There are instances when people can trust Goons without reservation, and those times are when Goons have no option but to succeed, where failure is not an option. Their rental program has to succeed. As such it will likely be the best managed rental empire in EVE Online, and in the end we'll be able to pick and choose from the cream of the rental crop.
