Another Podcast Worth Your Time
So I was on the EVEBloggers website, looking for anything new to catch my eye. If you mouse over the various links, a tooltip is available to briefly describe contents.
Under the podcast section I moused over something called Episode 92 - Summer Vacation and noticed a link to Poetic Discourse here. Understandably, I was a tad curious. So I downloaded the episode and gave it a listen.
This is a nice short podcast, produced by Kirith Kodachi, of the Ninveah blog fame. They have a median length of about twelve minutes. They're short and to the point. They can be best described as a post-of-the-week format. Kirith highlights three or four blog posts that caught his eye and discusses each briefly, giving his own short bits of opinion on them.
After listening to episode 92, I started going backwards and have so far listened back to episode 86. I'm quite enjoying his format. They're short. To the point. Nothing in the way of off-topic rambling. Certainly no big investment in time. This is definitely going to be the second EVE Online podcast I add to my listening rotation (alongside Crossing Zebras.)
I like that he draws attention to topics of interest from across the EVE blogging population. He doesn't seem to focus on any particular handful of bloggers. He draws from the whole. If a blogger has something interesting to say, he's likely going to mention them at some point. Kirith seems to have a broad slate of EVE reading, which benefits the podcast.
(Whereas a me mention is what drew my initial attention, it's not why I'm recommending the podcast. He's only ever mentioned me a handful of times, and he's been both positive and negative on my writing. He usually prefaces any mention of my blog by stating that I'm usually terrible. Which is fine by me.)
My only complaint with the podcast is frequency. He used to produce his podcast weekly, but in the last year that output has dropped to a quarter what it once was. It's a podcast a month now, mostly. I'd love it if he could once again find the time to produce weekly. And yeah, I know, for every 12 minute podcast, that's probably three to five hours of his time to research and produce it. But still, I'm selfish and want it once a week now.
So, give it a listen. Broadcasts from the Ninveah. I've added this to my Shoutout section (on the right, for non-mobile versions of the webpage.)
