Thoughts on Interdiction Spheres
I was involved in some light discussion the other day on Jabber with some people from either Paxton or Gentleman's Agreement (I cannot remember which.) I'm in the process of training Science V, and then Gravitron Physics I, which will allow me to start using interdiction spheres.
Having been based previously in lowsec, there was not much point training those skills. Now that I'm in nullsec, I think I might like to start learning how to fly an interdictor, even if that means being primaried often and being blamed for much.
A small idea occurred to me. It might be a terrible idea. It might have some merit. It's probably been broached by others in the past.
Why are there only warp disruption spheres? Why not other varieties of interdiction bubbles?
It strikes me that maybe the game could be opened into all new and exciting areas, tactically, if there were other flavours of interdiction spheres. Drone interdiction. Spheres that reduce or disable active reppers (shield or armor, whether internal or remote.) Perhaps webifying spheres. Or microwarpdrive nullifiers. Cloak nullification spheres.
I wouldn't introduce any spheres that replicate ewar modules, such as tracking or targeting range disruption or ECM, as that would negate the point of having those ships in a fleet. But there are certainly areas, outside of ewar, to be exploited.
Thoughts?
