Travel advisory: Luminaire
I cannot possibly express how awesome I find this:
A friendly message from the GM Team regarding current events in Luminaire
reported by CCP Falcon | 2013-03-21T16:58:24Z
The GM Team would like to make it known that due to events that will be occurring in the system of Luminaire over the weekend, ships or capsules destroyed between downtime on Friday, March 22nd (11:00 UTC on 22/03/2013), and Downtime on Saturday March 23rd (11:00 UTC on 23/03/2013) will not be eligible for reimbursement.
Players who do not wish to be at risk of in game loss due to ongoing hostilities in the Luminaire solar system should be sure to add this system to their autopilot?s avoidance list and ensure they stay well clear of Luminaire over the course of the weekend. Ship or capsule losses between downtime on Friday, March 22nd (11:00 UTC on 22/03/2013), and Downtime on Saturday March 23rd (11:00 UTC on 23/03/2013) will not be eligible for reimbursement due to the ongoing conflict between the Gallente Federation and the Caldari State.
Ho-lee shit.
For those not understanding what this means, Falcon makes it explicit:
CCP Falcon > but lets just say that anyone who comes into luminaire when stuff kicks off, at some point in the future, will be freely attackable, and able to attack anyone.
I seem to remember someone mentioning that having New Eden feel like a galaxy at war would be a good idea... ;-) So I'm absolutely thrilled that CCP agrees and they're going to start playing this out.
Read between the lines and I'd say that CONCORD is going to "evacuate the system and leave Luminaire to its fate" this weekend. Presumably the faction navies will also be way too busy to involve themselves in capsuleer activities. As a result, it looks like Luminaire (currently a 1.0 system!) is going to effectively be low-sec for about 23.5 hours.
For you DUST 514 players, reliable rumor has it that you're going to be fighting on a map that prominently features the grounded wreckage of a Caldari Leviathan titan. Again: ho-lee shit!
My only point of bitching on this is that CCP continues to despise those of us that live within 500 miles of the Pacific Ocean. As far as I can see, this event is going to kick off for me on early Friday morning. That means that unless I want to take a day off work, I'm going to miss virtually all of the festivities. Why oh why oh freakin' why could this not have been scheduled for Saturday? CCP, ask the team doing this to work Saturday and give them the following Monday off! How hard is this to accomplish?
*cough* Sorry. Rant over. This is a negative, but it's probably a relatively small negative in what should be a big ol' barrel of fun in Gallente space this weekend. Can't wait to see how it turns out!
